Rochford Wines

Rochford Wines is a renowned venue for not only beautiful wine and food sampling but also outdoor functions, concerts and events. The restaurant is set amongst stunning views of the vineyards and offers wonderful seasonal dishes with matching wines and local boutique beers. The courtyard area is ideal for private wine tastings or pre-dinner drinks accompanied by canapés and delectable finger foods. The café section is more casual and offers diners casual lunches and seasonal platters with a magnificent glass of premium Rochford Wine. All in all you will find delightful chef created seasonal dishes and a detailed wine list showcasing premium Yarra Valley wines.

Healesville Sanctuary

Healesville Sanctuary is home to an abundance of beautiful and unique Australian native wildlife including Koalas, kangaroos, platypus, dingoes, wombats and Emus. The sanctuary is also home to the Australian Wildlife Centre, a hospital which treats more than 2000 sick and injured native animals each year and visitors have the opportunity to witness these real life surgeries and medical procedures.

Spirits of the sky is a daily show not to be missed which features talented parrots, eagles and other birds of prey showcasing their impressive flying skills. Other exhibits worth viewing are the platypus sanctuary, kangaroo country and the koala viewing enclosure.

Yarra Valley Dairy

The Yarra Valley Dairy is renowned for producing award-winning fresh, soft cheeses made in distinctly Italian and French styles. The cheese shop and café is located inside the original 100 year old milking shed which is a little less than a 10 minute drive from Yarra Glen township. They encourage cheese and wine tastings and stock a wide variety of delicious regional and specialist produce as well as beautiful home wares and gift ideas. With over 60 wines available to purchase from local winemakers as well as beers and ciders from neighbouring breweries there is something for everyone. They serve coffee, tea, biscuits, cheese platters and homemade ice cream daily in the café section of the cheese shop.

Rayners Orchard

Located in Woori Yallock, Rayners Orchard is a fruit farm that offers around 450 varieties of fruit including peaches, nectarines, apricots, kiwi fruit and oranges. A tractor tour can be taken around the orchard so visitors can try varieties of fresh fruit and learn about the different varieties of stone fruit and sustainability farming. Fruit bottling workshops are available year round and participants have the opportunity to take home their own bottled fruit. The farm shop offers a variety of different chutney, jams and bottled fruit while the Peach Café offers homemade fruit mince pies, ice cream and of course tea and coffee.

Tarrawarra Museum of Art

Located on a stunning property in Healesville, Tarrawarra Museum of Art presents seasonally changing exhibitions within a spectacular award winning architecturally designed building. It has presented over 70 temporary exhibitions ranging from local artists to more renowned artists and exhibitors. The museum truly is spectacular and the exhibitions are always changing frequently to keep displays current and vibrant.

How to get to the Yarra Valley:

The stunning Yarra Valley is situated South East of Melbourne and is a scenic 1 hour drive from the Melbourne Central Business District. You can get here from the city by travelling along the Eastern Freeway and continuing onto the Eastlink tollway. Exit at Ringwood Bypass and turn left onto the Maroondah Highway and follow the road through Ringwood and Lilydale to Healesville. At Coldstream, leave the Maroondah Highway and turn onto the Melba Highway to Yarra Glen.

Alternatively, drive the scenic route from Melbourne along the Eastern Freeway until you reach the Burke Road North exit. Follow Burke Road to Upper Heidelberg Road and Metropolitan Route 44 to Eltham, then follow the Main Road through Eltham to Kangaroo Ground and turn right onto the Eltham-Yarra Glen Road.

An excellent way to visit the Yarra Valley is by taking a Yarra Valley day tour with Gray Line Melbourne departing from Federation Square.
