Melbourne in June: Winter fun for everyone

Celebrate the Queen’s Birthday at the races

Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre will be hosting it’s Melbourne International 3 Day Event comprising of dressage, cross country and showjumping. Concerned about outdoor events during winter? The dressage and showjumping events are both held indoors. The cross country is held in the picturesque surrounds of the State Rose Garden and formal grounds of Werribee Park Mansion. There’ll be a range of marquees with food and wine too. It’s the perfect way to spend a three day weekend.

The Melbourne International Jazz Festival

The modern masters of jazz will head to Melbourne for the International Jazz Festival held from the 30th of May to the 8th of June. Including some big international artists as well as outstanding local talent, it’s a 10 day extravaganza of live gigs, events, film screenings, concerts, artist talks and so much more. With almost 30 free events on the festival calendar, there’s plenty of great events the whole family can enjoy.

Melbourne Cabaret Festival

For those who love cabaret, you won’t want to miss the Melbourne Cabaret Festival which will showcase 30 hand selected shows. From 80s singalongs to original and revealing autobiographical shows there is something to suit all tastes.

Melbourne Truffle Festival

The Melbourne Truffle Festival offers fun for passionate truffle lovers this year with everything from truffle hunts to banquets plus truffle parties galore. As part of the festival, on the 12th and 13th of July the Caulfield Racecourse will become a truffle wonderland featuring the largest French black truffles you can imagine. If you want to learn more about how to cook truffles there will also be a demonstration on how to prepare them, plus tips on new and exciting ways to pair them with other ingredients. Don’t miss out on the Champagne, Caviar and Truffles Bar before taking in the mock truffle dog hunt which is bound to be loads of fun.
