What’s Happening in the World of Melbourne Food this September

If you are a self confessed foodie, Melbourne is the place to be this September, with an Asian Food Festival, The Royal Melbourne Show and plenty of fantastic workshops and tasting nights.

Asian Food Festival

Starting September 1, the Asian Food Festival runs for six weeks and offers progressive dinners and banquet menus in participating restaurants, floating yum cha and Chinese dinner cruises and a massive Friday yum cha that blocks off Chinatown to traffic.

The Royal Melbourne Show

The Royal Melbourne Show is fun in itself, but this years Tastes of Victoria Pavilion looks set to make a memorable event for those looking to taste the finest produce available in the state.

According to Good Food, this year’s show will offer pop up restaurants from well-loved restaurants such as Albert St Food & Wine as well as a Brew Bar and BBQ showcasing a 16-hour smoked brisket matched with Victorias best beers.

Seafood & Wine Evening

For one night only, The Smith Prahran Restaurant will become a seafood marketplace, offering a variety of items such as shucked oysters, kingfish sashimi, scallops and calamari. The event is being held on Monday 16 September and costs $60pp. Phone 03 9514 2444 for bookings.
